We perform various types of non-destructive evaluations of components. These tests are used to determine quality and serviceability and to uncover weld discontinuities such as cracking. They are performed to avoid costly unscheduled loss of service.

For welded assemblies, we perform visual, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, and ultrasonic testing to ensure structural integrity. The significance of the inspection results is quantified using finite element analysis.

  • Visual Testing - detects geometric anomalies using gauges and measuring tools
  • Magentic Particle Testing - detects discontinuities near the surface of the weld, using magnetic particles
  • Liquid Penetrant Testing - detects flaws open to the surface using a dye that seeps into discontinuities
  • Ultrasonic Testing - detects location and size of discontinuities in the weld (inclusions, porosity, lack of fusion) using high frequency sound waves that are reflected by the flaws

Surface or embedded discontinuities cause stress risers in the weld, which reduces the facture resistence and fatigue life.

Our lead weld inspector is Certified, and has been performing weld inspection services for more than ten years.

Our services also include API tank inspection services.
